================================================================= MIDAS LCC Readme ================================================================= ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1.0 Overview ----------------------------------------------------------------- The MIDAS LCC (Local Communications Controller) is a major communications and processing node of the MIDAS hierarchical network. It represents the highest point in the structure of outstation equipment. The LCC is connected between the MIDAS Subsystem (also known as the Instation) and the Transponders (TPR) and is located at a transmission station, Control Office or RCC building. Within the MIDAS network, the LCC is responsible for message assembly, routing and control of TPRs. The device is capable of addressing up to 32 TPRs. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2.0 LCC Firmware ----------------------------------------------------------------- The LCC firmware is capable of firmware upgrade via specially formatted USB pen drive which is supplied with every LCC. 2.1 LCC Firmware Upgrade There are two types of firmware upgrade: - LCC Firmware Update Only (issue_s1497) - LCC Full System Update (issue_s1498) The LCC Firmware Update only updates the LCC firmware and leaves the operating system and all system boot files unchanged. The Full System Update formats and updates the entire LCC firmware and operating system. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 3.0 Updating LCC Firmware/Full System ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Insert the specially formatted USB pen drive into the PC where the self-extracting zip file is to be run. 2.
