 INTRODUCTION
-------------------------

The Device simulation program WinDevsim currently does not support IP communications.  
This application (NMCS2IP) is provided as a temporary solution, to convert between NMCS2 and the IP/TCP protocol, defined in MCE1126 – NMCS2 Internet Interface Specification, allowing IP systems and devices to communicate with Windevsim over RS232.

 INSTALLATION
------------------------

NMCS2IP installs automatically from the HA Maintenance Tools CD.  To install the package, insert the CD into the drive and the setup program should launch automatically.  If Auto-Run has been disabled, run the SETUP.EXE from your CD-ROM drive (e.g. D:\SETUP.EXE)

NMCS2IP should be run on the same PC as WinDevsim, linked together with a pair of virtual COM ports, configured using the open source, com0com Null-modem emulator software, which can also be installed from the HA Maintenance Tools CD. 

After installing com0com it will be necessary to rename the virtual COM ports and enable buffer overrun on the WinDevsim port:
  1. Launch the com0com Setup Command Prompt from the Windows start menu.
  2. Enter the change commands, for example:
       command> change CNCA0 PortName=COM11
       command> change CNCB0 PortName=COM12,EmuOverrun=yes

These port numbers should then be used when configuring NMCS2IP(COM11) and WinDevsim(COM12).

 EXECUTION
--------------------

To Execute NMCS2IP; double click the desktop icon or select it from the start menu.

The user interface provides the facility to link the address of an IP device to a corresponding electronic address configured on WinDevsim. Up to 254 devices (corresponding to electronic addresses 01h to FEh) can be configured using the Add Device dialog.

Any value in any device entry can be modified using the Edit Device dialog. Device entries can be removed using the Delete Device button.

The broadcast address can be entered in the edit control provided.

The Network adapter to be used can be selected from the 'Adapter' list control.

Baud rate selection is only required when a physical com port is used by NMCS2IP and must match the WinDevsim Baud rate setting. This setting has no effect on virtual ports.

When the required devices have been configured, on NMCS2IP and WinDevsim, press the 'Start' button. 

NOTE: NMCS2IP should be run with WinDevsim version 3.00 (or higher).
